Description

Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley) has what it takes to make it as a Las Vegas show girl what she doesn't have is a way in. To survive, she accepts the only job available: lap dancing at a seedy club. And when she meets Cristal (Gina Gershon), Vegas' reigning show girl, Nomi wants everything she has including her boyfriend (Kyle MacLachlan). And as Nomi dives deeper into the world she so desperately desires, a rivalry between the two women heats up. Ein grandioser und realistischer Film der zeigt wie Frauen im Showbusiness sich verkaufen müssen, in jeder Hinsicht. Mit klasse Musik und super Darstellern, allen voran die sehr mutige Elizabeth Berkley... Ich liebe Nomi, sie tut was sie tun muss, um zu überleben in einer Männerwelt und bevor sie sich erpressen lässt, geht sie einfach...
Toll, dass man auch zeigt, dass die Protagonistin ihre Periode hat!

Der Film alleine ist sicher nicht jedermanns sache und wer gerne Tiefgang mag, ist hier nicht richtig. Die Hauptdarstellerin sieht toll aus und tanzen können die im Film auch! Mir gefällt er.

Von den Kritiker zerrissen, an der Kinokasse ein Riesenflop. Showgirls war der Anfang vom Ende von Verhoeven's Hollywoodkarriere. Der Film ist aber bei weitem nicht so schlecht wie sein Ruf. Die Kritik dass der Film sehr frauenfeindlich sei, ist meiner Meinung völliger Quatsch. Im Gegenteil, die Wandlung von Nomi vom dummen Naivchen in eine toughe Frau die sich gegen die Männer wehrt, ist alles andere als frauenfeindlich.
Fazit: Sollte man sich definitv mal ansehen

Der wohl am meisten unterschätze Film von Verhoeven. Ich finde ihn eine gelungen Kritik am Showbusiness. Leider verstehen das nicht alle... und Gina Gershon ist wiedermal göttlich... Aber ja nicht die deutsche DVD kaufen, hat keinen O-Ton!!!
