On the subtropical Japanese island of Amami, traditions about nature remain eternal. During the full-moon night of traditional dances in August, 16-year-old Kaito discovers a dead body floating in the sea. His girlfriend Kyoko will attempt to help him understand this mysterious discovery. Ein kleines Juwel! Magische Naturaufnahmen, spannende Einblicke in die Naturreligion des südl. Japans, eine ergreifende Geschichte und eine schauspielerische Meisterleistung von Jun Yoshinaga (als Kyoko). Nur gegen Ende geht alles etwas zu schnell – man hätte sich bei der Auflösung die selbe sorgfältige Umsicht gewünscht, die den Film sonst so unendlich wertvoll macht. Dennoch: Uneingeschränkt sehenswert!
