Popeye Doyle (an Academy Award-winning Gene Hackman) and Buddy Russo (Roy Scheider) are tough New York cops attempting to crack a drug smuggling ring. They have a small candy store under surveillance, but Doyle is not happy when he receives the order to work with a pair of French federal agents on the case, one of whom he has a long-standing feud with. Gene Hackman and director William Friedkin both earned Academy Awards for the film, which also took Best Picture.

    Genialer Streifen im damals noch total herunter gekommenen New York.Gene Hackman in noch jüngeren Jahren in Top Form.Wer genau hinsieht entdeckt das World Trade Center in seiner Bauphase.

    Was für ein Film, genial! Die Blu Ray hat zwar in 2-3 Szenen sehr viel Bildrauschen, aber sonst alles sehr gut!

    dass ich den Film erst jetzt gesehen habe, ist ja ein Armutszeugnis. 1971 abgedreht, dient der Film als Grundlage für jeden weiteren Buddy-Movie (zB Lethal Weapon)... Kult!

    Das Ganze tohuwabohu um diesen Film ist viel zu übertrieben. Für diese Zeit sicher kein schlechter Film, heutzutage würde ihm jedoch kaum noch Beachtung geschenkt werden.

    So gehts in The French Connection zu und her. Ein gnadenloser und realistischer Thriller im Brooklyn der 70er Jahre. Beeindruckene Performances von Hackman und Co.
