Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline star in this drama adaptation of the novel by William Styron. Upon moving to a Brooklyn boarding house in 1947, author Stingo (Peter MacNicol) meets Nathan Landau (Kline) and Sophie Zawistowska (Streep). The trio become firm friends and spend much time together, but Nathan's explosive temper often results in Stingo spending time alone with Sophie, and it is in these moments that she slowly reveals her past to him, describing what she experienced at the hands of the Nazis in occupied Poland.

Magnifique film tiré de l'oeuvre de Styron.L'histoire vraie d'une jeune Polonaise envoyée au camp de concentration avec ses deux enfants.Arrivée là-bas, elle devra faire le terrible choix de sacrifier la vie de l'un d'entre eux.
Meryl Streep,toujours égale à elle-même, à appris le polonais et l'allemand.Elle a aussi recueilli le témoignage d'une survivante d'un camp de concentration.Elle a aussi suivi un régime spécial pour être le plus crédible possible dans les scène du camp.Kevin Klein fait aussi une belle prestation et a bien su cerner son personnage.
