The feature debut of director Frank Henenlotter (Brain Damage, Frankenhooker), 1982's Basket Case is a riotous and blood-spattered "midnight movie" experience.

Duane Bradley seems like a pretty ordinary guy. His formerly conjoined twin Belial, on the other hand, is a deformed creature who lives in a wicker basket. Arriving in the Big Apple and taking up a room at a seedy hotel, the pair set about hunting down and butchering the surgeons responsible for their separation.

Filmed on a shoestring budget against the backdrop of 1980s New York (where it played on the midnight movie circuit for over two-and-a-half years), Basket Case has clawed its way from its humble origins to become one of the most celebrated cult movies of all time.

Carrying a mysterious wicker basket around with him, Duane Bradley arrives in Manhattan and checks into a sleazy Times Square hotel. What's in the basket, you ask? Why, Duane`s hideously misshapen Siamese twin brother, Belial, of course! Originally born attached to Duane`s side., the little monster was surgically removed by some quack doctors and rudely left for dead in a plastic garbage bag. But Belial survived, and Duane has hit the Big Apple with his beastly bro to wreak havoc on the surgeons who separated them. Things get complicated, however, when Duane gets romantically sidetracked by the sexy, wig-wearing receptionist of one of the doomed doctors, and his jealous telepathic sibling reacts... well, poorly.

With memorably gruesome scenes (the multiple scalpels stuck in a screaming face is a particular favorite) and some disturbing stop-motion animation, Frank Henenlotter`s Basket Case - finally available in a Special Edition DVD! - is one of the most beloved, cheerfully demented cult classicks of all time, and a midnight movie hit that inspired two sequels.

Dieser kleine Kult-Klassiker gehört einfach in jede Horror-Sammlung! Diese Version ist uncut, das Bonusmaterial gut/interessant und der Preis auch sehr fair. Einige der blutigen Effekte vergisst man nicht so schnell. Klar, einige der Effekte wurden (bezw. mussten) sehr billig umgesetzt werden, einige Schauspieler sind fast so schlecht wie Madonna... Egal, kaufen!

Un film "culte".
Réaliser avec des bouts de ficelle, les effets spéciaux sont franchement mauvais en comparaison de "the thing" de la memm année (1982).
L'essentiel est ailleurs.Un climat pourri dans une New-York dangereuse et un hôtel fictif terriblement réaliste.
La scène des Twin towers et la musique climatique de Gus Russo est fabuleuse.Un crescendo dans la médiocrité.
Une vengeance dans un film intemporel mal fichu mais malsain.

Film culte.Bourré de défaults avec des effets spéciaux catastrophiques..Quelquechose de malsain se dégage.
Une musique climatique,un magnifique plan de Mahnattan,des acteurs amateurs crédibles,un hôtel crasseux.Bref...intemporel.

Bei dieser DVD soll es sich um ein Bootleg handeln. Das Cover ist wirklich auffallend schlecht gedruckt, und der Film entspricht der geschnittenen Best Entertainment Fassung. Ausserdem enthält das Cover nicht wie üblich einen Red Edition-Katalog. Krass.
