On a rare August night in 1989, the heat inside Biltmore Bowl in Los Angeles far exceeded the sultry summer temperatures embracing the city. What caused this phenomenon? A once-in-a-lifetime concert jam by an all-star roster of Latino musicians. The royal families, represented by "the Mambo King" Tito Puente and "the Queen of Salsa" Celia Cruz, brought the beat. Guitarist Carlos Santana and vocalist-actor Ruben Blades added some spice. And special guest Jerry Garcia stirred the pot.

Released on DVD for the first time, Caliente y Picante recaptures an incredible evening in which these Latino legends get a chance to shine individually and stretch out with their comrades. Renowned percussionists Poncho Sanchez and Millie Puente (Tito`s cousin) also share the spotlight. There`s plenty of rhythm and fun for everyone.
