    Ok, falls man es braucht, findet man es hier. Tiptop and very sophisticated. Schöne Sax-Einlagen. Hehehe, dazumals gab es noch keinen Soloalben-Himalaya vom Zupfler.

    Über die Dire Straits kann man sagen, was man will. Aber an diesem Album kommt keiner vorbei. Ohne Frage DAS Highlight der Bandgeschichte. Missglückte Experimente wie bei "Love Over Gold" oder platter Kommerz wie bei "Brothers In Arms" sind vorbei, hier ist die Krönung eines langen Such- und Entwicklungsprozesses. Klar, dass sie danach aufhörten, denn dieses Album wäre nicht mehr zu toppen gewesen. Sogar der sonst mässige Gesang von Knopfler tönt hier passend wie das Teil ins Puzzle.

    Song No.6 "you and your friend" das ist Kunst ,Ja Richtig Kunst . Der absolute Knaller was dieser Mark Knopfler auf den Gitarren zaubert. Meisterwerk. Genuss Pur. Danke Mark.

    Diese Scheibe wurde in den Neunzigern oftmals als Vorführ-CD für Stereo-Anlagen verwendet. Die heulenden Gitarrenriffs und der dezente Bass zeigen auf warum. "On Every Street" ist der tollste Song auf diesem Album, man beachte den Tempowechsel gegen den Schluss des Songs. Nur eins ist hier, wie gewohnt bei Dire Straits, schlecht: Der Gesang von Mark Knopfler.

    Bis auf "Ticket to Heaven" und "How Low", die beides ganz starke Songs sind, herrscht leider auf dieser CD mehrheitlich die Langeweile.

    Eine der besten CD's! Der Titelsong und die teils jazzigen Stücke sind absolut der Hammer. Ein MUSS für jeden Dire Straits-Fan!!

    Keine Ahnung, was alle haben... Wenn diese Scheibe nicht geil ist, dann weiss ich aber gar nichts mehr! "Calling Elvis" und "Heavy Fuel" würde ich in einem Atemzug mit den absoluten Knallern von der "Brothers in Arms"-CD nennen, und auch daneben ist das eine oder andere Juwel drauf (z.B. "When it comes to you"). Für mich ganz klar: Unbedingte Kaufempfehlung!!

    Damals war das Album ärgerlich weil die Dire Straits versucht haben mit aufgewärmten Songs Löcher in unsere schlecht gefüllten Schüler-Portemonnaies zu reissen. Nachträglich betrachtet ein schönes Album.
