Clapton has gathered a group of like-minded friends and musicians and recorded 16 Cale tracks as his tribute to the guitarist/songwriter. This new record features performances by Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Derek Trucks and Don White, as well as Clapton himself.

The Deluxe Edition CD Box Set features the standard CD of the new album along with a companion disc that features the Cale originals (including three previously unreleased home). The two discs are set inside a presentation box that features an image of JJ Cale’s iconic Harmony guitar, and also included is a USB stick in the shape of a turnbuckle. Included on the USB are hi-definition (24/96) versions of all the tracks as well as a video interview with Eric Clapton. Six lithographs, a book and some photos are also included in this set.

    Breeze - An Appreciation of J.J. Cale geht es in erster Linie um die Ehrung eines genialen Gitaristen und Songschreibers. Das zeigt schon das Aufgebot der Musiker. Ich finde das hat Eric gut gemacht. J.J war schon immer ein Vorbild für Eric und er hat J.J's Songs erst so richtig bekannt gemacht.

    Ich finde hier den Vorwurf von wegen "Trittbrettfahrer" nicht unbedingt fair. Wie jeder weiss, hat Clapton auch früher in seiner Karriere diverse Cale-Songs gecovert und auch schon mit ihm zusammen ein ganzes Album aufgenommen. So ist es doch wohl eine ehrlich gemeinte Verneigung vor Cale. Auch wenn das Album nicht in jeder Hinsicht an die Genialität von Cales Originalen heranreicht, ist es doch eine feine Sache, wenn Leute vielleicht dazu gebracht werden, sich die originalen Alben ebenfalls zu besorgen.

    Si vous aimez Clapton, Dire Strait, la musique country-rock et bien sûr J.J. Cale,il faut avoir ce CD.

    Für mich ist diese Tribut-CD überflüssig und nicht gerade das Gelbe vom Ei. Clapton fällt mittlerweile kaum mehr was ein (Songwriting) und so betätigt er sich einmal mehr als Trittbrettfahrer. Cale's Werk ist ganz grosse Klasse und spricht für sich. Cale war ein Meister des "Weniger ist mehr", was man von einigen der Protagonisten hier nicht gerade behaupten kann. Leute kauft die alten CDs von Cale, sind allesamt viel besser als dieses Trittbrettfahrer-Werk.

    Etwas kurze CD und Songs, aber sonst unglaublich gefühlvoll und subtil produziert von Meister Eric als Hommage an Meister J.J. Auch die Stimmen passen super, die Gitis sind sowas von gekonnt. Tja, da haben viele Meisterköche den Brei zu einem wahren Festschmaus zubereitet. Eine grosse Würdigung!

    J.J. Cale würde es gefallen, es könnte FAST von ihm sein. Nur fast, denn Cale bleibt einfach unerreicht.
    Krass ausgeblendet: das ärgerte mich auch schon bei Cale, fast einer seiner Markenzeichen. Aber die Songs sind so schön, dass man die Scheibe einfach nochmals startet.

    Respektvolle Verneigung vor dem Guitar Man aus Tulsa ohne Überraschungen oder Experimente. Manchmal kling es so, als hätte J.J. unsichtbar im Studio mitgespielt.

    Weshalb gewisse Songs ultra kurz sind bleibt wohl ein Geheimnis. Gewisse Songs werden krass ausgeblendet. Schade.
