Emmy award winner John Goodman (Roseanne, Argo) stars in Alpha House, an inside-the-beltway comedy series from Garry Trudeau (Pulitzer-Prize winning creator of Doonesbury) about four Republican senators all living together in a townhouse on Capitol Hill.
Cantankerous senator Gil John Biggs (Goodman), retired UNC basketball coach, makes winning look easy but that`s because he has never had a real fight for his seat. When Duke basketball coach and Tea Party challenger Digger Mancusi announce he`s running, the race gets real. After going AWOL from his own campaign, he stumbles across his true political character. His roommates have their own set of issues: Senator Louis Laffer of Nevada (Matt Malloy), under attack from a macho rancher opponent, faces danger during a congressional tour of Afghanistan. Senator Robert Bettencourt of Pennsylvania (Clark Johnson) plays matchmaker while contending with an ethics investigation brought by a powerful Democrat (Cynthia Nixon) and a fracking photo-op gone wrong. Frisky freshman Senator Andy Guzman of Florida (Mark Consuelos) uses the house as a love nest with his billionaire girlfriend (Yara Martinez) while planning a presidential bid with the help of a teenage data scientist.
Season one features guest stars Wanda Sykes (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy), and hilarious cameos from Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, Senator Charles Schumer, Tom Brokaw, Chris Matthews, and Grover Norquist.
