Johnson and including a milestone rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love." Featuring the original, "Don't Wait Too Long" co-written by Jesse Harris & Larry Klein. With over half a million albums sold, it shifted Peyroux from the jazz realm into the mainstream arena and remains her most popular release. Deluxe Edition includes the previously unreleased 2005 live set, recorded by Basque Public Radio for the Festival de Jazz de Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain. - Madeleine performs the repertoire from Careless Love, plus additional bonus songs.

    das ist ja als ob man vom blitz getroffen worden ist (im positiven sinne) und durch die energie in die bütezeit des jazz vor mitte des letzten jahrhunderts katapultiert wird...madeleine peyroux's stimme erinnert tatsächlich an billie holiday. unbedingt kaufen und geniessen. pure jazz...besser sein ist schwer.

    Nach acht Jahren seit ihrem Debut-Album nun endlich der zweite Streich. Die aus Georgia stammende Sängerin erinnert an ihrer Phrasierung,an Ausdruckskraft und klanglich stark an Billie Holiday, auch was die Auswahl an Titel betrifft. Ausser bekannten Standarts interpretiert sie Pop-Songs auf ihre eigene Art, mehrheitlich in Balladenform mit melancholischen,bluesigen Untertönen. Begleitet wird sie dabei von Larry Goldings p,kb,hammond, Dean Parks g,David Piltch b und Jay Bellerose dr. Höhepunkte dieses Albums sind für mich "Careless Love","Weary Blues" oder ihr eigenes Stück "Don`t Wait Too Long", aber eigentlich fällt kein einziger Titel ab, alle sind sie bezaubernd und sinnlich.
