TOUR ABGESAGT !
DUSTY HILL IN TREATMENT FOR EAR PROBLEM ZZ TOP EUROPEAN TOUR CANCELLED
ZZ Top?s planned European concert tour that had been slated to start this June has been cancelled so that the band?s Dusty Hill can be treated for an acoustic neuroma. According to attending physician Shawn S. Nasseri, based in Beverly Hills, the ZZ Top bassist?s condition which could have an impact on his hearing and sense of balance is the result of a small benign growth in his inner ear. The band finds it unable to reschedule those dates due to a domestic performance schedule that had already been booked. They expressed their sincere regrets and disappointment to their European fans in not being able to make the trek over this year.
Dr. Nasseri, a Harvard Medical School graduate who trained in otolaryngology at the Mayo Clinic, spoke on behalf of Hill?s medical team, ?In the near term, we plan to stabilize Dusty?s hearing and symptoms with medication and a conservative management strategy.? Nasseri, who has treated a number of legendary vocalists in his practice, indicated that surgery was not contemplated at this time and that, after the foreseen treatment, Dusty would be able to rejoin his ZZ Top band mates Billy F Gibbons and Frank Beard for touring later this summer.
Dusty Hill remarked, ?I feel that I?m very good hands now and I?m looking forward to dealing with this problem and being out there with Billy and Frank again soon. With the support of my family and our fans, I?m sure we?ll put this behind us very shortly.?
ZZ Top has been very active of late with an intensive domestic touring schedule that recently culminated with their being lauded in Las Vegas this past weekend as part of VH 1?s Rock Honors special to be aired May 24th. Highlights of the he band?s 39 years together were chronicled by Academy Award-winner Billy Bob Thornton with Nickelback performing the ZZ Top classic ?Sharp Dressed Man? prior to Dusty, Billy and Frank taking the stage at the Mandalay Bay Events Center for a set that included ?La Grange,? ?Cheap Sunglasses,? ?Gimme All Your Lovin?? and ?Tush? featuring Dusty Hill?s lead vocal.
