In una piattaforma petrolifera in mezzo al mare lavora un equipaggio di soli uomini, isolati da acque gelide e scure. Un incendio improvviso provoca un grave incidente. Una donna solitaria e misteriosa, evidentemente in fuga da un passato difficile, giunge sulla piattaforma per curare un uomo ustionato, temporaneamente privo della vista. Fra i due si sviluppa una strana intimità, un rapporto ricco di segreti, verità, bugie, umorismo e dolore. Un legame che cambierà per sempre le loro vite.
