La giovane Frances, provata dalla morte della madre e con un lavoro poco stimolante, si rende conto che la vita a New York non è quella che sognava. Caduta in una profonda solitudine e in difficoltà economiche, un giorno la ragazza trova una borsa su un sedile della metropolitana e decide di rintracciare la proprietaria. La borsetta appartiene a Greta, una ricca vedova solitaria. Tra le due donne si instaura sin da subito un forte legame e in breve tempo la loro amicizia si trasforma in un rapporto morboso, dai risvolti pericolosi e inquietanti che sconvolgeranno la vita di Frances.

Der Regisseur Neil Jordan (DIE FREMDE IN DIR, DIE BORGIAS) inszeniert einen typischen Stalker-Film, der harmlos anfängt und zunehmend den Spannungsbogen anzieht.

Optisch und akustisch ist der Thriller GRETA gelungen und zeigt eine gute Qualität. In Sachen Gewalt, Angst und Schrecken bleibt GRETA jedoch relativ harmlos.

Was mich alles in allem aber gestört hat sind die typischen Horror-Klischees und das mässige Ende.
