Félix Bonhoeffer, scénariste, vit entre deux mondes. Engagé pour remanier l`histoire d`un meutre situé dans un café désert, des personnages du film qu`il est en train d`écrire apparaissent dans la vie réelle et vice-versa. Alors qu`il essaie de se reprendre, des références à des chansons et à des films de science-fiction des années 50 se mêlent soudain à son quotidien.

    This is unlike any other movie you've ever seen, much more intensive even than such great works as "Stay" or "Inland Empire". I think it's great Hollywood proves able to produce such stuff, and I think Hopkins deserves our respect for being so daringly creative - I mean, let's face it, a superstar like him can do almost everything that comes to his mind, but of all the superstars he's the only one so far who had the guts to go and do a movie that does JUST NOT CARE about being intelligible, being an attractive product, being mainstream. I have not enjoyed being irritated so much since I first read "Finnegans Wake".
