Dopo la morte del padre Laura, detta LV, Little Voice, timida in maniera patologica, si reclude nella sua stanza dove passa il tempo ascoltando i vecchi dischi del padre e cantando le canzoni delle grandi Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Bassey. Ma una sera il boyfriends della madre la sente cantare, riconosce il suo talento e si improvvisa suo agente. Le organizza un`audizione in un malandato locale notturno del luogo dove incontra Billy, un ragazzo altrettanto timido con il quale stabilisce una tenera amicizia. Finalmente arriva la sera tanto attesa, tutto è pronto, ma dov`è finita LV?
