Étudiante à New York, Gloria Davis finalise sa thèse, qui tend à démontrer que le cannibalisme est un mythe. Afin d’appuyer ses recherches, elle part en Colombie, dans un village d’Amazonie, accompagnée de son frère Rudy et de son amie Pat Johnson. Sur place, le trio rencontre deux aventuriers sans scrupules, Mike Logan et Joe Costolani, mêlés à un trafic de drogue et responsables d’actes barbares sur des indigènes. Ces derniers ne vont pas tarder à se venger, de la plus cruelle des manières…
