    Nachdem The Band mit Rock of Ages schon eine der besten Live Mitschnitte der Rockgeschichte geliefert hatten, mit Arrangements von Allen Toussaint, kommt hier ihr Abschied von der Bühne mit den Freunden, die ihre Karriere begleitet hatten. Angefangen bei Ronnie Hawkins, für den sie immer den Takt laut vorsagen mussten über Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell und natürlich Dylan, den sie auf seiner ersten elektronischen Tour begleiteten. Von einer elektrisierenden Präsenz, da alle wussten, das wars. Wunderschön eingefangen von Martin Scorsese mit seinem gleichnamigen Film. The only band good enough just to be called the Band.

    1978, while being in London, I saw the film in the cinema! It was magical! I bought the 3 LP set and a VHS video, later on the 2 CD set and finally the DVD and the 4 CD set. What can I say? Music has changed drastically over the years. It was an entirely different spirit way back then! Wonderful voices! Even to this day, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE has never failed to amaze me!
