Based on a short story from 1863 by Edward Everett Hale, THE MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY is a 1917 feature about a man banished to sea after a judge grants his wish to never even hear the words "United States of America" ever spoken again. Set to spend the rest of his life on a ship where the sailors are under instruction to never speak his country's name, the man considers what he's done.
