The Island stars Academy Award winner Michael Caine as Blair Maynard, an investigative writer who tracks down one of the most baffling mysteries - the disappearance of pleasure crafts and its passengers in the Carribbean. During his investigation, he and his son are captured by raiding pirates who need his services to help improve their degenerated gene pool. Ob sich Quentin Tarantino davon inspirieren liess? Die Altersfreigabe ist vor Filmstart wirklich zu beachten, es dauert keine 5 Minuten bis die erste Axt ihr Ziel trifft, dann ist es zu spät die Kinder "wegzuräumen". Vorgängig unheimliche Musik einzuspielen um die Zuschauer zu warnen hat man damals offenbar noch nicht als nötig erachtet. ;-)

Schwachsinniger Film, schwachsinnige Story. Michael Caine hat viele gute Filme gedreht aber leider auch einige Rohkrepierer, so wie dieses Machwerk. Die deutsche Version ist eh was für Hillbillies! Der Deutschlehrer hätte nicht sehr Freude an diesem Streifen! Bäh!
