Classic 1970s Italian horror film starring Lino Capolicchio as Stefano, a young picture restorer who has been hired to save a decaying fresco in a remote church. Stefano begins to hear rumours among the townspeople that the fresco, which depicts the hideous suffering and murder of St Sebastian, was painted by the original artist, Legnani, from life - that he tortured and killed people in the name of his art. Stefano soon finds himself caught in a deadly web of unspeakable horrors as he begins to feel possessed by the same demons that drove Legnani to madness.
