In this comedy with music, Cuba Gooding, Jr. Plays a New York advertising pitchman who returns to his Georgia hometown for his great aunt's funeral and learns that, in order to gain an inheritance, he must lead her church choir to victory in an annual gospel contest. While trying to organize the singers, he falls for a beautiful chanteuse (Beyoncé Knowles).

Absolut unkonventioneller Gospel-Film mit viel Witz und tiefer Botschaft – Contemporary Gospel pur. Obwohl der Musikstil mitreissender ist als Sister-Act-Wälzer, schafft er es kaum in unsere Kirchen. Dafür sind dieser Film und der Soundtrack umso besser!
