Starring Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde), Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding), here is the hilarious adventure of two dashing young bachelors and the outrageous deceptions they find themselves in over love! Whenever Worthing (Firth) wants to leave his dull country life behind, he makes visits to the city posing as his fictitious “brother” Ernest. There he becomes smitten with the ravishing Gwendolen (Frances O’ Connor – A.I.). But when Worthing is in town, his playboy pal Algy (Everett) is in the country and falling for Worthing’s young and beautiful ward, Cecily (Witherspoon)– while also impersonating Ernest! Pandemonium ensues when these two would-be Ernests find themselves face to face and in the predicament of explaining who they really are!

    Die schauspielerische Leistung der Stars ist gut. Leider ist die Geschichte langweilig.

    Eine wirklich bezaubernde Theater-Verfilmung. Interessant, abwechslungsreich und überzeugend gespielt von den Schauspielern. Besonders Rupert Everett und Colin Firth sind brilliant. Nur zu empfehlen!

    Ein absolut unterhaltender Film mit guten Texten und Schauspielern. Ist eher wie ein Theater, aber gerade dies macht den Charme dieses Filmes aus. Absolut zu empfehlen für Liebhaber englischer Filme.

    Ganz offensichtlich geben sich die Schauspieler grosse Mühe, das Theater zum Film zu machen, leider vergebens! Oliver Parker sollte langsam aber sicher bemerken, dass Oscar Wilde Theaterstücke geschrieben hat und keine Drehbücher. Einer der am wenigsten unterhaltenden Filme dieses Jahr, obwohl er in Zürich im Capitol STAR gelaufen ist, dem Kino, das immer mit Starbesetzung aufwartet und überhaup nicht dem vorherigen Capitol 6 ähnelt (...???).

    Ein erfrischender Film für Liebhaber der britischen Komödie! Eine bis anhin beste Verfilmung eines Oscar Wilde Romans. Rupert Everett glänzt wieder mal in seiner Rolle! Müsst Ihr Euch reinziehen! :o)
