Antonio Bay, a quaint, small seaside town is celebrating the 100th anniversary of it's founding. That night a heavy, mysterious fog rolls through the town and people begin to die in savage ways. Rumors of a secret as old as the town begin to surface and the people of Antonio Bay realize they are victims of long dead sailors who have come to revenge their own murders at the hands of the town's founding fathers. The townspeople can only wait for the fog to roll in and pray that they are not the next to die. Director John Carpenter creates a chilling film and gets fine performances out of Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, and the fog itself, which creeps and crawls around as if it were alive.

The sleepy seaside village of Antonio Bay is about to learn the true meaning of the word "vengeance." For this seemingly perfect town masks a guilty secret... a past steeped in greed and murder. Exactly 100 years ago, a ship was horribly wrecked under mysterious circumstances in a thick, eerie fog. Now, shrouded in darkness, the long dead mariners have returned from their water grave to exact a bloody revenge. Can this waking nightmare be stopped, or will the fog keep rolling in... to kill and kill again?

    Un des meilleurs films de Carpenter, qui place l'atmosphère prenante au-dessus des effets chocs - une qualité qui fait hélàs de plus en plus défaut dans les films du genre plus récents.
    Et au diable cette mode du remake, véritable virus hollywoodien ! Pour ma part, l'original est parfait, je n'ai nulle envie de voir l'autre.

    A noter : la "rencontre" inédite au cinéma de Janet Leigh et sa fille Jaimie Lee Curtis - où quand Psydho et Halloween se croisent... ;-)

    Ein absolutes Muss für jeden Horror-Fan...!!!
    Aus der guten alten Zeit als Regiseur Carpenter noch mit wenig Geld einen Genre Klassiker zauberte... Selbst heute noch nach wiederholten Anschen immer noch faszinierend und grusselig, wie damals im Kino... there is a Fogbank outhere...

    Wenn auch schon ein bisschen von Nostalgie angehauchter Grusler ! Für mich bestimmt kein Horrorfilm ! Aber 90 minuten lang Gänsehaut ist wie eine Fahrt durch dieGeisterbahn! Mit viel bedrohlicher Musik und noch mehr grauem Nebel ! Auf keinenfall aleine anschauen ! Ein Film der vom Anfang bis zum Schluss fesselt !

    obwohl er weniger blut hat als fluch der karibik ist er echt angsteinflössend.sehr unheimlich und erschrecken tut man auch immer wieder.ein guter alter horrorstreifen.

    perfektes horrorumfeld und der nebel machen aus the fog einen der atmosphärisch dichtesten horrorfilme. dieser film braucht kein blut und krasse ekeleffekte um angst zu erzeugen.
