Seit Jahrzehnten geht Henry Perkins jeden Morgen in die Wachsfrüchtefabrik, um dort brav seine von niemandem gewürdigte Arbeit als Buchhalter zu verrichten. Als er eines Abends mit der U-Bahn zurück nach Hause fährt, verwechselt er seinen Aktenkoffer mit dem ähnlich ausschauenden Gepäck eines rumänischen Gangsters. Fünf Millionen finden Henry und seine Frau in dem Koffer. Henry weiß, dass die Gangster seine Adresse durch seine Tasche haben. Trotzdem beschließt er, das Geld zu behalten. Komme, was da wolle. Leslie Greif directs this adaptation of Ray Cooney`s hit British play, a throwback farce about mistaken identity. Chevy Chase plays Henry Perkins, a mild-mannered accountant who accidentally trades briefcases with another man, to find out that there`s a million dollars inside. Henry tells his unsuspecting wife, Carol (Penelope Ann Miller), of their new-found fortune, but she doesn`t embrace it as well as he does. Soon they`re joined by their best friends, a cop on the take, a cop on the hunt, and the dreaded Mr. Big (Zoltan Butuc), who has come to claim his money.
