Hypnotherapist Dr. Michael Stother has a dangerous gift...he gets visions of the inside of his patients' minds. While trying to help a detective to stop smoking, he sees in her subconscious an eerie image of a young girl floating below the surface of a stream. Soon he is caught up in the detective's pursuit of a ritualistic killer who had kidnapped a young girl, Heather. Although Heather has managed to escape from her capton, she hasn't spoken a word since. Now, only Michael can get at the terrible images locked in her mind.

Bits and pieces of ancient symbols, cult icons and religious references create a puzzle that he and the detective must piece together to unlock a code revealing the killer's whereabouts...and possibly an ancient secret to immortality. Du coup, je m’attendais à un film traumatisant. Mais je suis juste tombé sur un film anglais passionnant.
Il est agréable à visionner.

La violence extrême y est plutôt artistique qu’explicite.
Les acteurs et actrices sont très bons et très naturels, surtout Goran Visnjic !
Ici, cet acteur fait aussi bien penser à Kevin Kline, qu’à Nicolas Cage ou encore à Terry Hall, le regretté chanteur des Specials, de Fun Boy Three ou encore The Colourfield.

Les dialogues ont été très bien écrits, le rythme du film ne laisse pas le temps de s’ennuyer et l’intrigue est intéressante. Le doublage français est impeccable.

La toute fin n’est pas très rassurante et m’a rendu triste.
Mais c’est juste la petite règle (parfois ridicule, parfois intéressante) du film qui ne doit pas se terminer trop bien.
