Amudha, adopted by Thiru and Indira and growing up with the couple`s two sons, is blissfully unaware of her parentage, until the couple decides to inform her of it on her ninth birthday. At first shocked into disbelief, Amudha then expresses her determination to seek out her biological mother. The search takes the family to strife-torn Sri Lanka, where Amudha comes face-to-face with reality, and reconciles herself to it.

Dieser Film hatte mir damals im Kino sooo sehr gefallen und war eine grosse Überraschung, was indisch-tamilisches Kino betrifft. Ich habe immerzu nach der DVD gesucht und nun endlich gefunden! Wer einfühlsame, romantische Filme mag, jedoch mal etwas anderes als die typischen Bollywood Geschichten sehen will, wird von diesem Film sicher begeistert und berührt sein...
Einfühlsam und interessant

Dies ist kein Bollywoodfilm, er stammt aus Kollywood (Kalkutta)! Die Geschichte vom kleinen Adoptivkind Amudha, das seine biologischen Eltern sucht. wird mit der Tragik der Unabhänigkeitskämpfer der Tamil Teiger im Hintergrund, äusserst einfühlsam erzält und sehr interessant. Der Film hat nicht zu unrecht viele Preise gewonnen und ist wieder ein Meisterwerk des Starregisseurs Mani Ratnam. Es sollten viel mehr Filme aus Kollywood in Europa verkauft werden!
