Directed by Anthony Asquith, the silent melodrama and thriller A COTTAGE ON DARTMOOR explores the disturbing aspects of jealousy and crimes of passion. The movie narrates the story of Joe (Ugo Henning), a barber consumed by his passion for his girlfriend Sally (Nora Baring), a manicurist. When Sally ends up paying too much attention to one of her customers, Harry (Hans Schettow), the intensity of Joe’s obsession pushes him to slit the man`s throat. The barber is then sent to Dartmoor prison for a lengthy jail term but manages to escape.
