On the surface, James Deakin (Nick Stahl, Sin City, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) lives a quiet, routine, comfortable life with his wife Amy (Mia Kirshner, The Vampire Diaries) in their suburban home. Under the subtle manipulation of a faceless voyeur, however, cracks in their relationship begin to emerge. When Amy suddenly disappears, James is left to wonder if she`s been abducted or simply abandoned him, but their tormentor doesn't stop there. As the manipulations become more twisted and violent, James desperately tries to identify just who's doing this to him and why, but his adversary always seems to be one step ahead.
Shot from the point of view of hidden cameras concealed by the voyeur around the Deakins` house, filmmaker Randall Cole injects new life into the found-footage horror genre by grounding it in the everyday.
Der Alltag des jungen Pärchens James und Amy gerät aus den Fugen, als eines Tages plötzlich seltsame Dinge passieren. Der Wecker klingelt unerwartet mitten in der Nacht, James findet eine unbekannte Mix-CD in seinem Auto und ihre Katze ist auf einmal scheu und ängstlich. Keiner der beiden scheint dafür verantwortlich zu sein. Alles deutet darauf hin, dass ein Fremder Zugang zu ihrem Haus hat. Als James am nächsten Tag von der Arbeit zurück kommt, ist Amy spurlos verschwunden. Als weiterhin unheimliche Dinge passieren, gerät James in eine Spirale aus Verdacht und Wahnsinn und verliert nach und nach die Kontrolle über die Situation...
