    Tatsächlich etwas teuer, dafür dass man nichts wirklich Neues erhält - Mitschnitte der 1978er Tour in Europa und den USA wären hier viel interessanter und aufschlussreicher gewesen, da die Band komplett anders klang...

  • Legendäre Konzerte

    Nach 1966 geht Dylan erst wieder 1977 auf Welttournee, zum allerersten Mal nach Japan. Auf dieser neuen Aufnahme wurde die Klangqualität verbessert. 36 unveröffentlichte Live-Songs sind zur ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung hinzugekommen. Dazu gibt es Zusatzmaterial wie Konzerttickets in der Box. Obwohl der späte Dylan, dessen Stimme zu Unrecht oft als knarrend-eintönig beschrieben wird, mir am meisten Emotionen abgewinnen kann, ist die Energie dieser Konzerte in Japan zu spüren. Insgesamt ein fantastischer Mitschnitt. Ich hoffe auf eine Konzert-Veröffentlichung aus letzter Zeit. Dennoch ein schönes Werk, um den Meister kurz vor seiner Gospelphase live zu erleben.

    Dies ist vielleicht das "musikalischte" oder "musischste" Album vom Meister. Üppig orchestriert mit Flöten, Geigen, Saxophon, drei engelshaften Backgroundsängerinnen, Perkussion und einer präzisen Rockband, die es versteht, die alten Hits in einem völlig anderen Kleid zu präsentlieren. Einige der Songs sind auf Reggae getrimmt - noch bevor UB40 Dylan gecovert haben - und es passt wunderbar ins Klangbild. Himmlischer Folkrock zum abheben und mitsingen.

    Hinzu kommt, dass das japanische Publikum sehr gesittet und zurückhaltend ist. Die Aufnahme wird also nicht gestört durch grölende Zwischenrufe, wie wir das von anderen Orten her kennen. Publikumsmässig und musikalisch ist diese Live-Aufnahme also nicht zu vergleichen mit "Hard Rain", welche glaub ich, aus Amerika stammt und zwei Jahre vorher aufgenommen wurde.

    Obwohl ich den schrägen Dylan, der nur in einer Tonlage krächzt, von einer Grunge-Band begleitet wird und die Songs nur am Text erkennbar sind - wie etwa im Hallenstadion in den 90ern - auch mag, ist das eigentlich meine liebste Dylan-Veröffentlichung. Der vollklingenden Harmonie wegen.
