When a malfunction sends the park's android hosts off script, the Gunslinger (Yul Brynner, in his iconic black-clad role) begins a relentless pursuit, obliterating the line between simulation and survival.

For $1,000 a day, vacationers can indulge whims at the theme park called Westworld. They can bust up a bar or bust out of jail, drop in on a brothel or get the drop on a gunslinger. It`s all safe: the park`s lifelike androids are programmed never to harm the customers. But not all droids are getting with the program.

Westworld ist ein 70er Jahre Sci-Fi Klassiker mit einem genialen Yul Brynner in der Titelrolle als Revolverheldroboter Gunslinger. Brynners Verkörperung diente unter anderem als Vorlage für James Camerons Terminator. Der weiss auch heute noch zu überzeugen. Er baut vor allem in den letzten 30 Minuten ne genial bedrückende Atmosphäre auf und ist tadellos inszeniert.
Jetzt nur noch die schlechtere, aber dennoch unterhaltsame Fortsetzung Futureworld auf DVD und alles wird gut :)
Die DVD zu Westworld ist sehr gelungen. Sehr gutes, scharfes Bild für das Alter und ordentlicher Ton.

ein meilenstein der filmgeschichte. absolut genialer zukunftsthriller. und yul brynner in einer paraderolle. ist zwar schon etwas äter und die effekte sind dementsprechend, trotzdem empfhelenswert.
