Spread is a look at the trails and tribulations of sleeping your way to a life of privilege in L.A. Nikki (Ashton Kutcher) is a fun-loving, freeloading hipster who understands his greatest assets are his looks and sexual prowess. His latest conquest, Samantha (Anne Heche), a stunning middle-aged lawyer, gives Nikki more than he's ever had before. But when Heather (Margarita Levieva), a gorgeous waitress playing the same game, catches his eye their lifestyles force a choice between love and money. Nikki has to decide if he can live on his own once and for all in the hopes of finding something real.

Ambientato nei giorni nostri a Los Angeles, il film racconta la storia di Nikki, un sofisticato playboy della upper class che è sempre vissuto nel lusso e nei privilegi. Ci racconta i suoi segreti più intimi, dai retroscena dei party più sfavillanti cui prende parte, a tutte le donne con cui va a letto, condividendo un facoltoso appartamento di Beverly Hills assieme al suo avvocato Samantha, una bella donna di mezza età. Tutto va per il meglio finché Nikki non conosce la bellissima Heather, una cameriera che, senza che lui lo sappia, conduce esattamente il suo stesso gioco fatto di spietato individualismo e di avventure senza complicazioni.

...keine Komödie. Aus meiner sicht ist ashton kutcher sogar für diese rolle falsch besetzt und was er an hat während dem film, steht seinem klatsch-blatt-dasein in echt nichts nach: klamotten, die gehipt werden, aber einfach eher stillos sind. der film ist gut, tut aber nie wirklich weh (da ist ashton einfach der falsche). der schluss hebt das ganze vom mainstream ab.- fazit: gut, aber schmerzlos, wo es bei dem thema doch so einiges zum weinen und schreien gegeben hätte (drehbuch: sehr gut)

Solide schauspielerische Leistung, L.A. schön eingefangen (jedenfalls im ersten Teil des Films, was Sinn macht), gute Story, z.T. explizite Sex-Szenen (mal nicht typisch amerikanisch in Unterwäsche unter der Decke...). Die Story ist aber ein Drama und keine Komödie. Wer eine typische kutcher-Komödie sehen will, lässt besser die Finger von diesem Film.
