This duo of 8mm films – inspired by Tsuburaya Productions’ TV series Ultra Q – weave tales of hardship and monsters from beyond, and helped pave the way for the director’s most famous work.
Forrest of Heresy – Miyamoto's final project as a high school student – tells the story of two hunters who, after a time-travel mishap, must escape the jaws of a hungry Tyrannosaurus rex.
Legend of the Desert Illusion follows four young members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, who become stranded in the middle of a North-African desert within an armored reconnaissance vehicle. But the dunes around them are hiding much more than enemy forces, and they soon discover a horrifying entity lurking beneath the sand.
