French astronaut trainee Sarah (Eva Green) got the call she'd been waiting for her whole life, as a last-minute sub for a year's mission on the International Space Station. It also couldn't have come at a worse time, as she now has custody of her young daughter Stella (Zélie Boulant) after splitting from her husband (Lars Eidinger). The challenging course she must chart between dreams and duty propels this thoughtful drama.

Es geht um eine junge Astronautin die gleichzeitig eine Mutter eines jungen Mädchens ist. Sie bekommt dann die einmalige Chance auf die Weltraumstation zu fliegen und dort einen Aufenthalt zu absolvieren. Dabei gibt es mehrere Hindernisse. Es ist eine eher Männerdominierte Welt, wo sie sich zuerst mal beweisen muss, da gibt es zu Beginn auch Vorurteile. Gleichzeitig lastet aber auch der emotionale Druck auf ihr, dass sie sozusagen ihr Kind beim Vater zurücklassen muss. Das geht nicht ohne Schuldgefühle auch, die von ihr selbst aber sicher auch von der Gesellschaft ihr gemacht werden. Mit Action hat der Film eigentlich nichts zu tun, als dramatischer Film überzeugt er doch aber. Es geht um ihre Vorbildsrolle für Frauen, gleichzeitig um den grossen Stress bei der Zweifachbelastung als Mutter auch noch usw...
