set in the neon-washed underworld of present day hong kong, fallen angels intertwines two exhilarating tales of love and isolation. first, there's the unconsummated love affair between a contract killer (leon lai ming) and the ravishing female agent (michele reis) who books his assignments and cleans up after his jobs. when the killer decides that he must move on, he leaves her with only a coin for the jukebox and instructions to play song number 1818 - "wang ji ta" ("forget him")...
ex-convict ho (takeshi kaneshiro) stopped speaking at the age of five after eating a date-expired can of pineapple. he lives with his father, who runs a guesthouse where the agent is in semi-permanenet residence. ho makes a living by re-opening shops that have closed for the night and intimidating customers into buying goods and services from him. after an awkward romance with a girl named cherry, ho finds himself all the more alone...
wong kar-wai brings these parallel storylines together in a blitz of ultra-hip style and classical cinematic sensibilites. a poet of modern alienation, kar-wai's universe is populated with characters both dark and comic, magical and existential; fallen angels is both a vie at revolutionary cinema and an homage to a love for movies.

Killer, un tipo spregiudicato e violento alle dipendenze di Agent, dopo aver lavorato 155 giorni nel mondo del crimine con grande successo e lauti compensi, comincia a porsi qualche interrogativo sulla professione, e proprio nel momento in cui il suo "datore di lavoro" - colui che rimette tutto in ordine ad operazione compiuta, cancellando ogni traccia - ha qualche tremore per lo strapotere del suo terribile socio e lo licenzia. In luogo di una lettera di dimissioni, Killer inventa per Agent uno strano messaggio, inciso su un gettone: "Jukebox Song 1818", lasciandoglielo perché venga consegnato nel bar dove di solito si svolgevano i loro criminosi appuntamenti. L'alloggio di Agent è situato in una pensione dove risiede pure uno strano individuo, Ho, reso muto dal lancio di una lattina che gli ha leso le corde vocali, il quale lavora a giorni alterni presso una macelleria e un fast food, ma preferisce fare il barbiere (fuori-orario) occupando con l'aiuto di un grimaldello il negozio di qualche proprietario, quando il padrone se n'è andato, e adattandosi a qualsiasi lavoro per campare. Frattanto Killer insieme a Punkie, vive una folle vita di eccessi e di violenze, alloggiando in una stanza d'albergo, del quale è pure ospite Cherry, una giovane disperata, perennemente al telefono per rintracciare il fidanzato lasciato in un momento difficile. Poiché ora ne avverte spasmodicamente la mancanza, inganna la passione con squallide gratificazioni, non escluso un dubbio "gioco d'amore" con il muto Ho. L'atmosfera frenetica e caotica in cui vive ispira Punkie di far uscire dalla reciproca solitudine Killer e Agent, facendoli incontrare e facendo scaricare tragicamente l'uno sull'altro la reciproca rivalità.

Es ist Wong Kar wais Kunst, die Filme auf Bildern aufzubauen. Das ist das , was bei ihm zählt! Umso erstaundlicher, dass er Tarantinos Lieblingsregisseur ist, obwohl Tarantinos Stärke ja die Dialoge sind.
Fallen Angels ist ein starker Film. Mit nur sehr wenigen Worten sehen wir, wie Liebe scheitern kann.
Auf den ersten Blick ist Fallen Angels einfach nur eine Art Fortsetzung con ChE, aber bald merkt man, das er doch völlig anders ist. ChE ist eine sehr spezielle Komödie voller Wärme. Fallen Angels aber ist ein düsteres Drama, indem aber dennoch Hoffnung und Witz steckt! Ich kann nur sagen: Schaut beide Filme!

Dies ist eine mehr oder weniger Fortsezung von Chunking Express. Wärend ChE das Licht war, ist dieser die Dunkelheit oder Düsternis. Die Auftraggeberin verliebt sich in den Killer. Und ein stummer Mann der mit einer "verrückten" durch die Nacht zieht und Geschäfte aufmacht und betreibt, die in der Nacht geschlossen wären. Wenn man den zugang zu diesem Film gefunden hat, ist er überwältigend.

ein berauschender rausch rauscht durch die ohren rein , die augen raus und volle pulle in die gehirnwindungen rein ... so dass man ihn kaum mehr rauskriegt ... wow !
