Neurotic New Yorker Bruce (Jeff Goldblum, The Fly, The Big Chill) is a manic bisexual who enjoys a good cry. Equally insecure Prudence (Julie Hagerty, Airplane!, Lost in America) is the uptight writer he meets through the personal ads. Bob (Christopher Guest, This is Spinal Tap) is Bruce's roommate and former lover who is insanely jealous of Prudence. Prudence is also sleeping with her lecherous therapist Stuart (Tom Conti, Reuben, Reuben, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence), while Bruce's therapist Charlotte (Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson, Women in Love, A Touch of Class, Hopscotch) may be crazier than any of her patients.
