As her research leads her into the bowels of Chicago s deprived housing projects and deeper into the Candyman s world, Helen learns that some legends are best left alone...

a children's ghost story comes to terrifying life in this gut-wrenching thriller about a graduate student whose research into modern folklore summons the spirit of the dead. helen lyle (virginia madson) laughs when she interviews college freshmen about their superstitions. but when she hears about candyman, a slave spirit with a hook hand who is said to haunt chicago's notorious cabrini-green housing project, she thinks she has a new twist for this thesis. braving the gang - ridden territory to visit the site of a brutal murder, helen arrogantly assumes candyman can't really exist... until he appears, igniting a string of terrifying, tragic slayings. but the police don't believe in monsters, and they charge helen with the grisly crimes. and only one person can set her free: candyman.

    Da gibts eigentlich nichts mehr zu sagen. Ein wirklich spannender und absolut sehenswerter Film! Ich würde mir hier jedoch gleich die deutlich günstigere US-Version bestellen.

    Ein überwältigendes Meisterwerk! Umfassend und vollkommend in sich!
    Um die Aussagen meines Vorredners zu untermauern, dieser Film hat durchaus Clive Barker Qualitäten. Dadurch mausert sich dieses auf Zelloloid gebannte Meisterwerk zu einem Geniestreich von noch nie da gewesenser Grösse. Das Nonplusultra!

    Atmosphärisch dichter, teilweise recht blutiger Horrorschocker. Clive Barker wie man ihn kennt und liebt. Auch wenn dieser Film nicht von ihm persöhnlich inszeniert wurde kann er trotzdem voll zufrieden sein.
