SALONICA narrates of Thessaloniki, the port city of Greece, at the crossroads of numerous historical and cultural lines: Byzantium and Western Europe, the Orient and the Balkans, Macedonia and the Mediterranean region. It takes a close look at the city today, meeting most different people and thereby telling of the city’s modern reality, a display of historical layers and stories. The film also narrates of the power and burden of the past, of personal and cultural loss and of the individual and collective search for an identity.
