Maggie (McCarthy), a single mother, moves into a new home in Brooklyn with her 12-year old son, Oliver (Lieberher). Forced to work long hours, she has no choice but to leave Oliver in the care of their new neighbor, Vincent (Murray), a retired curmudgeon with a penchant for alcohol and gambling. An odd friendship soon blossoms between the improbable pair. Together with a pregnant stripper named Daka (Watts), Vincent brings Oliver along on all the stops that make up his daily routine -- the race track, a strip club, and the local dive bar. Vincent helps Oliver grow to become a man, while Oliver begins to see in Vincent something that no one else is able to: a misunderstood man with a good heart.

Ein rührender Film über Schicksale des Alltags im amerikanischen Sozialgefüge, über Freundschaft und Vertrauen, über Erziehung, über Religion, über Abschied und Trauer, und eigentlich über den Sinn des Lebens. Bill Murray in der Paraderolle als Vincent und viele weitere köstliche Figuren füllen diesen Film mit wundervoller Komik und Tragik. Vielleicht manchmal etwas zu sentimental und vorhersehbar, aber absolut sehenswert!

Voller herrlicher Momente, aber alles worauf sich die Handlung von "St Vincent" zuspitzt, wurde für meinen Geschmack auf eine etwas dürftige Art und Weise aufgelöst. Allerdings ist das Mäkeln auf hohem Niveau.

Ein prächtig aufgelegter Bill Murray sorgt für herzergreifend komische und emotionale Momente.
Schon Calvary überzeugte und liess mit radikalerem Ausgang, nicht kalt!

hat mir total gefallen, schön auch bill wiedermal in einem richtigen film mit ansprechender handlung etc. pp. zu sehen... kein vergleich zu jeglichem wes anderson quatsch.
