Las Vegas, 1969. Eight years after his last concert, Elvis Presley, the King of Rock, returns to the stage. After spending the last few years trying his hand at acting in Hollywood, his fans are eager to hear him sing again. His comeback is accompanied by television crews and camera teams. His return is not only for a live audience, but also for cinema and television. For decades, large parts of these recordings were considered lost. Until director Baz Luhrmann rediscovered them in 2022 while researching his biopic Elvis. Together with his editor Jonathan Redmond, Luhrmann viewed, restored, and edited more than 60 hours of raw footage. Four years after the theatrical release of Elvis, he is now releasing a concert film based on the original recordings, which does not reconstruct but rather re-stages what has been preserved.
