L'un des chef-d'oeuvres de Stanley Kubrick, ce qui est déjà beaucoup dire, et également l'un des plus grands films jamais réalisés : son thème, inspiré du général Nivelle, du Chemin des Dames et des fusillés pour l'emple, exprime de façon bouleversante, parce qu'intemporelle, l'horreur et l'iniquité de la guerre ainsi que la mégalomanie et l'incurie des généraux. Inoubliable et d'une puissance inouïe.

Ein beeindruckendes Meisterwerk der Geschichte mit einem hervorragenden Kirk Douglas in der Hauptrolle. Selten hat ein Film mich dermassen beeindruckt ja sogar berührt! Leider ist der Film ein bisschen kurz geraten (im Vergleich mit anderen Kubrick Filmen extrem kurz), hätte mich gerne noch länger an diesem Film erlabt. Habe den Film gestern auf ARTE gesehen - warte nun schon seit über einem halben Jahr auf die angekündigte DVD-Veröffentlichung und bin voller Hoffnung, dass er eines Tages doch noch geliefert kommt. Gehört auf jeden Fall in jede anständige DVD-Sammlung! Unverständlich, dass dieser Film nicht auf der Stanley Kubrick Collection enthalten ist, hat wohl irgendwas mit den Filmrechten zu tun oder so.

Mit diesem Film hat sich stanley kubrick den internationalen Durchbruch geschaffen. Und das zurecht. Keine Sekunde konnte ich während diesem Meisterwerk wegschauen. So unbeschönigend wie hier der Krieg dargestellt wird, hat es vor diesem Film zu dieser Zeit noch niemand gesehen. Two thumbs up!

Kirk Douglas' Performance bleibt mir wohl für immer im Gedächtnis haften.
Ein mitreissender Film über die Sinnlosigkeit des Kriegs und eine Abrechnung mit den Menschen, die Kriege führen wollen.

Zum Glück erscheinen auch die alten s/w-Kubrick Meilensteine noch auf Code 2! Phänomenales, erschütterndes Drama mit grandiosen Dialogen und erschreckendem Finale.
