Preston Sturges wrote the screenplay for this consistently funny screwball comedy. In a wonderfully wacky performance, Arthur sparkles as a working girl whose life turns upside-down when tycoon Arnold throws his wife's mink out the window, landing on Arthur. Milland costars as Arnold's son who romances her. There's a great slapstick scene at an automat, and Pangborn, as a catty salesclerk, proves when it comes to dishing the dirt, he's second to none ("Where there's smoke, there must be. . .somebody smoking").
