Un virus dagli effetti devastanti si propaga da uno degli aereoporti di New York alla penisola di Manhattan; chi ne è contagiato si trasforma in una creatura famelica simile ad un lupo mannaro. La città viene messa in quarantena in attesa che l`esercito risolva il problema ed il presidente è deciso ad usare anche le armi nucleari, se necessario. Toccherà alla dottoressa Ellen Gordon e all'intrepido maggiore Brian Hoffmann cercare di risolvere la situazione, prima che le cose sfuggano di mano a tutti.
